      In Solidarity:
      Living and Making Together
The class and the class “Design for the Living World” collaborated with various grassroots initiatives in Mexico City and Querétaro during significant neoliberal changes in Mexico. They focus on initiatives related to solidarity economies, work and living collectives, and sustainable neighborhood projects. Their goal is to explore tensions between local and global economies, sustainability, cooperative living, and working in cities, and the dynamics between rural and urban, peripheral and central regions. Through this discourse, the artist and students will visit four different projects in and around Mexico City and Querétaro, including Huerto Roma Verde, Cooperativa Palo Alto, CENTRO University Mexico City, and the América neighborhood in Querétaro, to work and exchange knowledge with the local people, alongside the Dérive Lab.

The project “In Solidarity: Living, Making, Together” showcased documentation from four projects at an exhibition at Muca-Roma of UNAM in Mexico City. The exhibition, focusing on solidarity societies, economies, and the right to the city, transformed Muca-Roma into a dynamic space for public discussions over two months. Additionally, three roundtable discussions were held at Huerto Roma Verde and a fourth at Muca-Roma, bringing together the four initiatives involved in the project
